The Village Academy

The Village Academy is a group of town, city and village schools that have joined together to provide the very best education for the children in our care and where we believe that education is very much a matter of the individual.

End of day for EYFS and KS1 (Catkins and Acorns)

End of day for KS2 (Aspens and Oaks)

In the playground we use the school bell.  The bell is rung twice: one to stop children, and the second for children to walk quietly to their line. The children will line up in their class lines before being led into class by a member of staff.  The register is taken by 0900.

To ensure the safe drop off and collection of all children we have the following procedures in place.

Start of the day

  • A member of staff will be at the end of the lane at 0830 to meet and greet children and be available as a drop off service for parents if they wish.
  • When in the playground, children are asked not to play on the equipment, not to run around or play roughly.
  • In very bad weather children will be asked to go straight into class.
  • If a child arrives after 9 am they will need to report to the school office before going to class.

The end of the day

  • The children are asked to wait with the teacher/TA and go to the adult collecting them when the teacher says them to do so.
  • It is imperative that the teacher/TA sees the child go to the designated adult so parents/carers must be in the school playground before children are released and teachers are asked to make eye contact with the adult.
  • School rules still apply to children waiting with their parent or carer in the playground and therefore parents and carers are asked to keep children with them at all times when in the playground and to prevent children from playing on the equipment, going onto the school field or running into the school lane unaccompanied.
  • Children attending after school clubs will be sent to the member of staff running the club.

Permanent or temporary change of collection arrangements

  • Parents are asked to inform school if arrangements change during the year, including any temporary arrangements. If someone comes to collect a child and the school has not been informed we will ask the child to stay with staff until we gain verbal permission for a parent/carer.

Late Collection/Uncollected Children

  • In the event of a child not being collected with no reason given, we need to ensure the health and safety of the child is not put at risk and the following procedure will be followed:
    • o The daily register will be checked for any information regarding collection of the child,
    • o If no information is available, attempts will be made to contact parents/carers at home or at work as appropriate.
    • o The child will be placed in After School Club or after hours will be asked to remain with teaching staff. This may incur a cost.
